People are finally fed up enough with tipping culture that it's in the news.

Well I'll tell ya what, I've been fed up with it for years. Fight me!

I don't see the problem with it. It think it is a superior method of payment for service industry.

@MethDozer the problem is the high percentage that's become so obligatory. I like tipping sometimes, but the amounts they are asking for are insane. We should only be actually obligated to pay for what we order and the tipping is just a nice gesture that should be totally up to the consumer as to if and how much.

Alot of people can barely afford what they're even paying for on the menu or what have you much less a tip. I got in an argument about this years ago with my wealthy Jew friend. I had a super big paycheck or something and took three of us out for drinks and sushi at my fav place, guy fierris tex wasabi in Santa Rosa, rip text wasabi, and the tab was like 150. So I put down a 10$ tip. Well guess who flew off the rails! I wasn't leaving enough, and it was a little bit of a thing. 😆

@Notsimilarreally The prices would just be higher and the waitresses would still be making less money.

IDK, I get what you're saying to a point but that's just eating a too expensive place and to be fair. When someone pays the bill the other person rightfully covers the reasonable tip.

You're not actually obligated to tip, it's just the right thing to do if service was reasonable to good. I have absolutely refused tips based on piss poor or rude service.

@MethDozer I'd rather prices be higher than feel like I need to pay employees for the company they work for. I've worked in waitressed and been a barista, I get how great tips are and the option should be there for people to do so. But it shouldn't have to be so relied upon. People should be nice because people should be nice, as in waitresses etc, and do the job they sign up for with a smile on. And employers should pay livable wages. No, we don't legally have to tip. But it's so expected and so looked down upon when you don't, it feels that way. Aren't there even restaurants where you literally have to? When I can barely afford the meal I'm eating I don't want to feel pressured to leave 20% on top of that because the moral obligation is so instilled and I'm an ass hole if I don't.

It's a pretty divided subject. 🤷🏻‍♀️
