People of the UK: Do you leave a tip at restaurants?

Somewhat nicer places are starting to add a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% charge to the bill, and then if paying digitally a separate screen pops up requesting a tip on top. The second request seems a little excessive.

In London in the Early 70s we lived briefly in London and had some memorable restaiurant meals. I think it was at 'Tiddy Dol's' (long since gone), where we had excellent food and great service, that I left a tip and the waiter followed us out into the street to return it!
