I Might Have To Listen For Barking Squirrels Today…

I found a case of Hot Red Pepper Suet Blocks on clearance at Walmart yesterday and put one in the suet feeder yesterday evening. If I hear a barking sound I’ll go out and look for the squirrel.

@4meAndyou And if by magic the hot red pepper suet bars are not being eaten. I think we know now who exactly was dining on the other suet bars and eating them up in just a few days.

@cherokeepatti "A variety of birds are attracted to hot pepper suet, including woodpeckers , blue jays, nuthatches, and chickadees. These birds are known for their love of high-energy foods, such as suet, and they will happily feed on hot pepper suet year-round." If you have the birds listed above at your feeder, then it is probably both. What happened to the slinky?

@4meAndyou No slinky, it’s hanging from a branch
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti 🤣🤣🤣 Did the squirrels put it there after you pissed them off? 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou I don’t have a slinky. You have to put them under a regular bird feeder on a metal pole, That way they bounce when they grab it to get to the feeder.

@cherokeepatti So the suet isn't on a pole? I had a seed feeder with suet baskets on both sides when I had a back yard, and the whole shebang was on a pole.

@4meAndyou No it’s a square cage with a chain to hang it on a branch.

@4meAndyou I bet it would be fun to grease up the top of that baffle to make them slide right off of it.

@cherokeepatti When my son was in 2nd grade, we lived in a nice apartment on the second floor in a three story building...and I had a bird feeder on suction cups on the outside of my kitchen window.

The rotten little squirrel sat on a tree branch at least 25 feet distant, and I could see him winding up his rear legs for a launch...I thought oh my gosh this squirrel is crazy! And then he made the jump and he took my entire bird feeder down to the ground with him. !!!!! Kamikaze Squirrel!!!

@4meAndyou They won’t leave anything alone. There was a squirrel that would bring things to the yard and drop them. He chewed the colored wooden beads that were hanging on a cord off a swing awning and dropped one in the yard. Finds a piece of burnt wood in a fire pit and dropped it. Found a cotton boll in someone’s yard and left it here. Turtle shells, peanuts, breadsticks, pecans, he found it and would bring it here.

@cherokeepatti They still climb up to my apartment, even here. They like to bite the solar cords of my light up hummingbird mobiles and take the plastic hummingbirds...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou The squirrel that was doing all of that stuff worked his way between the chimney and the chimney liner and got trapped. He was probably the one that removed the chimney cap off of the top of the chimney, we had to have that replaced. Also tore off siding from the top part of the house above another roof. Had to have that replaced. A lot of the neighbor’s siding was also damaged. Since that squirrel died there hasn’t been a lot of things dropped in the yard around here. I think that one was the main culprit.

@cherokeepatti They can do a LOT of damage. My mother had raccoons in her attic...they tore the place up.

@4meAndyou yes they can. They used to be really bad about running on top of the roof too, sounded like a herd of goats up there when they were doing that. Try to keep the branches trimmed away from the house now.
