How far does a hive of bees have to fly to produce a kilo of honey?(50s)

Total distance, all bees combined, there and back, there and back etc.
160,000 kilometres

It's worth noting that a hive consists of about 80,000 bees, so that makes it 2km for one bee. Not that far in the grand scheme of things!

What I find fantastic is they specialize on what they pick to make the honey.

Why there is certain types of honey depending on the quantity of the flower. They don't pick just any flowers. The queen determines the plant by taste and quantity of flowers near by.

So the workers might have to fly even further than necessary.
