It's called the Healthy Incentives Program, or HIP. The governor snagged 10 million dollars away from the Department of Transitional Assistance, and now, a family of FIVE, which previously received $60 in basically free fruits and veggies, has to feed their family with $20 worth of free fruits and veggies.
And NO ONE seems to know where she put that money!!! Best guess is that it went toward roads and bridges and Union wages. But that's just a guess.
You can easily find out that she DID this, but there are no news stories that reveal where the money went.
In the meantime, small farmers are laying off workers, and the overworked farmer has to tote all the fruits and veggies in to the farmers market by herself...so there is a LOT less variety available to those who would otherwise buy.
