I Planted a Vegetable Garden

Every year. Overall, we didn't do well this year. Green beans and tomatoes did OK. Everything else (cucumber, eggplant, potatoes, zucchini, squash) didn't. I likely need to add some compost to the soil; I'll take care of that in the spring. We also got a late start this year, so that certainly could've had an effect as well. 🤷‍♂️

@saragoodtimes I can't grow bell peppers either. I think I'm the only person in this area who can't grow bell peppers or corn. 😝 I usually get more jalapenos than I can use, though, and this year I won't get any, it's looking like.

I also usually do very well with eggplant. This year, we got a whole bunch, but they were yellow-ish rather than the nice black / very dark purple they usually are. We're going to try one and see how it tastes; if it tastes OK - that is, if they just look funny - we'll eat the rest. If not... I guess into the compost bin with them.

I just made fresh salsa yesterday, which used 10 cups of "skinned, finely chopped" tomatoes. All of them came from my garden. This week. And I have enough left that I'll make puree to use in a week or two for making red sauce - once I pick the next batch and dice them up for the sauce.
@LookingForIt987 live here in Pa dutch country so can always find roadside stands for fresh produce. saw eggplant 4 for $1 and cucumbers 5 for $1 last week

@saragoodtimes So, yep, not too far. Especially considering how far away most people on here are from me. :)
