I suppose I need someone to review and approve/reject my purchases because I bought a french-fry press that I didn't really need.

1. It cuts the potato into perfect french-fry form.
2. It's made from stainless steel, not plastic, with a heavy handcrank and beautifully engineered.
3. It will last a lifetime. It's industrial quality.
4. Yes, I could continue to hand cut them.
5. No, I didn't really need it.
6. No, it wasn't really in my budget.
7. Yes, I am both happy I bought it and I regret having bought it because it was kind of an impulse buy and it kind of throws my budget off and it makes me feel irresponsible.

Impulse buying was a problem many, many years ago for me.

Conquered it by forcing myself to walk away, telling myself, "if its still in the store the next time I'm there I'll pick it up." (though hard at first, it worked).

@eyeno Good method to follow... I suppose.
