What kind of fish do you have with 'fish and chips' in the States?

Or is it called a 'fish fry'?
In the UK we have plaice, rock, cod, haddock. I always have plaice, a flat fish and it's delicious. 馃悷

Here in The South catfish and whiting are extremely popular. The batter's also more like what you get on your chicken at KFC. It's also served with coleslaw rater than mushy peas.

@eventtemple123 I don't like the whiting ad Talapi is just fish marinated in its own piss

@eventtemple123 I forgot about whiting, we have it over here, although it isn't usually sold with fish and chips.
