About 35 years ago someone gave me a starter for an Amish Friendship Cake. It is kind of like sourdough (not sour though) in that you have to use it every so often and keep feeding it with more flour etc. to keep the yeast in it growing. I made a variety of cakes with it. The recipe called for a package of pudding mix (whatever flavor you want) and the batter and whatever add-ins you want. I made chocolate, chocolate chip, vanilla, and got some orange slice candies and nuts and made one with that. My sister-in-law bragged on it to me.

@GnomeyGee I only made it that one time. Gave a variety of small loaf cakes to friends. Got tired of baking so often and stopped making those cakes.
