It is 24 degrees this morning so I decided to make applesauce before going outdoors to rake leaves. The house smells great. I'll spoon some over vanilla ice cream for a snack in a while. Do y'all make fresh applesauce?
when i was a kid, we used to stock up on the apples that fell to the ground and use them like snowballs and throw them at each other... Best were the over-ripe ones that exploded on impact, worst was getting beaned by a fully ripe one in the side of the head :)
I have made it in the past when I had a lot of apples. And apple butter too, which tastes so much richer. The best applesauce I made was from crab apples that someone gave me, it was naturally pink.
