Should Meals On Wheels Be Defunded?

I guess that depends on whose perspective we're using.

If I were elderly and homebound I would think it was great to have a visitor and a meal.

@ScreamingFox should their ceo who depends on taxpayer dollars be making more than the President of the United States
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Defunded as it is now?

Yes.

The idea is great. But it's like so many programs with a heavy federal government footprint. Some local programs work in spite of unpredictable federal funding and crippling federal regulations, but some don't, and even those that work could work better if overhauled.

I think it should be examined, just as Doge examined some of our federal institutions. If the CEO is really making making more than the President of the United States, THAT component should change.

CEO has a bigger salary than the President of the United States of course it must go

@MarineBob I didn’t realize that. When I was working there for a short time during the late 70’s I found out that they were using our Social Security money to fund it along with donations. That irked me a lot since I believed that Social Security should be used for our retirement.

I was working for Congregate meals for Seniors….but I wonder if Meals on Wheels also has been funded by Social Security money.
