If you don't know what I'm referring to, it's basically the same thing as what's established in British Columbia, New York, and California for gig workers so they can get paid and treated better (at least in theory ye). I heavily suspect that Uber lobbied for this to happen as a way to kill off their competitors to get bigger market share, and as an excuse to get rid of the surplus amount of people they did hire over the years, with the benefiting of workers as simply good PR. Since I'm a bike courier in a suburb, this will benefit me, but for car couriers and rideshare drivers they will (according to themselves on the UberEats subreddit) are gonna suffer financially in Ontario due to the new legislation, which I'm sure Uber wants so they quit or work less.

I live in Southern Ohio, USA and not Beining in Canada or the two US states you mentioned I have no idea as to the legislation you speak of. I also live on a very rural farm where there are none of the services you mentioned. Heck I am lucky to get US postal service, Amazon deliveries, and internet service where I live.

But I am well aware of the criminal and civil lawsuits popping up in the United States right now over Uber drivers groping, molesting, and even raping drunken clients, and some theft and robbery crimes.

So, whatever uber does I want no part of it.

Good luck on that bike delivering in a city full of drivers not looking out for you.

@uikakarotuevegeta Thank you for the info.

@uikakarotuevegeta I would hope they would do some more vetting to get rid of those undesirable drivers as well.
@WillaKissing well they do background checks (along with driver history for those with a car), so at the very least people with a prior criminal record can't be hired

@uikakarotuevegeta I guess I’ve never heard of it because I don’t use food delivery service except for maybe once a year
@Jenny1234 Fantuan is much more prevalent in Asian dominated areas like Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, North York, Brampton, Mississauga, and (downtown) Toronto

Although despite that, they're still dominated by UberEats, DoorDash, and SkipTheDishes
