With Minimum Wage Guaranteed In July Here, Will It Get Better Or Worse?

I'm from the province of Ontario, where starting July, Uber and other gig companies have to provide minimum wage and better transparency for us couriers. This is similar to what's already implemented in British Columbia, New York, and California years prior. As a bike courier delivering in the suburbs, I don't even earn minimum wage even on my best days so earnings wise it'll benefit me. However, I'd like to know if this will screw over car and motorcycle couriers who have more expenses and may earn more than me due to being favoured by the algorithms.

Also wanna know if car couriers specifically will just quit delivering and consider other jobs or switch to ridesharing (for companies that offer both like Uber). Will Uber and others decide to gatekeep new couriers from joining, and will they copy DoorDash by implementing scheduling BS to throttle existing couriers? Based on the e-mail I got from Uber so far, they won't be implementing anything else beyond minimum wage, daily satisfaction rating (there already is overall), and transparency for account status and payments. They already implemented extra BS in some major US cities like NYC, so makes me worried.

These sound like good changes to me, but I hope you and others will somehow find opportunities beyond the gig economy.
@ThePatientAnarchist yeah but even with connections, I can't even get a proper job

@ShenaniganFoodie I'm from Canada, not Australia
And also even if I was, pretty sure it would still depend on the provincial, state, or territorial laws rather than federal for something like guaranteed minimum wage for couriers
