Hear me out - I came from a home where they cooked food

This is the home I grew up in - they COOKED FOOD!
Then I went to my kids’ house. There, they fixed food.

Cooking and Fixing: Two Different Things.

You fix Tuna Fish. You fix Hamburger Helper. You fix Rice-A-Roni, Nachos, Hamburgers, and Sandwiches.

A lot of you young people get excited that your wives or girlfriends are cooking Tacos tonight.
No, no, no - they are FIXING Tacos tonight.

Cooking is when you stuff something. Cooking is when you smother something. Cooking is when you sauté something. Cooking is when you preheat the oven to 350 for two weeks.

When I got to my kids’ house, his new wife said they were having a new house built. Her dream kitchen cost $28,000. She told the builder, “That’s the kitchen I want,” and then she walked off.

I walked up to my son and said, “Get that builder on the phone. Tell him you don’t need a kitchen. Tell him you want a CONCESSION STAND.

Because right now, we’re on Corn Dogs, Frito Pies, and Grilled Cheese.
What do you need a $28,000 kitchen for… for what? To rent out?

So funny....and I understand that well.
A good kitchen is for cooking fresh food and ONE meal for everyone to eat...not 4 different ones.
If you are warming up fast food, or making hamburgers and hot dogs....then you need a concession stand...lol.
Your daughter-in-law needs a lesson on what real cooking is ll about and how meals bring the family together....and with NO cell phones

My mom cooked us children lunch and dinner everyday....real cooking, for 6 kids and my dad.
We hardly ever went out to dinner.
My wife and I did the same thing with our kids.
When my youngest daughter was in high school, one of her friends parents died from cancer...stomach cancer. She told my daughter that their meals every night were out of a can and warmed up on the stove....all food with lots of preservatives in it which caused the cancer

Too funny and accurate.

I grew up in a household of entirely home cooked meals. No microwave either.

In 2001 I saw adults eating things out of tiny crinkly packets, the kind your Mom puts in your lunch kit, - in their own homes. I went away from the US mainland - I didn't think I'd ever see that again.

Don't be so melodramatic ,there are plenty of good cooks and bakers on Sw
We cook daily here. Not me but we do.since children. I cook the pets food. Chicken or liver or other meats.
I see this with my own kids.
They dont seem to care that reheating things they bought and putting them together is not cooking.
