What are we supposed to eat?

On Oct. 21, Kennedy took to Instagram to say that “seed oils are one of the driving causes of the obesity epidemic.” Kennedy, an environmental lawyer whom Trump has promised to let “go wild” on public health, explained that the rise in American obesity correlates with fast food restaurants’ switch from beef tallow to seed oils in their fryers—particularly McDonald’s, which he says cooked its fries in beef tallow until the 1990s.

Personally, I've never liked or trusted canola oil for anything but lubricating machines. Makes everything taste like fish. I use butter, olive oil, and lard for sauteing. The type of oil is dependent on the type of pan and what I'm cooking, and the temperature. For cakes i use grape seed oil. Avocado oil is good for salad dressing. I have beef tallow in the freezer but only use it for steamed puddings or english style pie crusts.

Well seed oils oxidize really quick and apparently seed oils go through a chemical process that can produce trans fat which is unhealthy. Animal fat has butyric acid plus it's more stable in the body and doesn't oxidize.

I'm not really sure if it directly causes obesity, I honestly think that's from over doing it on flavor enhancers and preservatives. I think preservatives cause obesity and disease through addiction, the taste confuses the brain's hunger signals.

Fats don't make you fat though. Excess sugar which is converted to fat inside the human body is the leading cause of weight gain.

@whowasthatmaskedman so much for vegetarians. There is also the issue of corrolation vs. Causation too.
Beef tallow ? 🤢

@bijouxbroussard had to replace whale blubber, baby seal oil, and mammoth fat with something.
@Tastyfrzz I get it, but it’s one of the reasons the English weren’t really known for their cuisine and had to borrow from the French and the Indians.
