Does homemade terriyaki sauce taste better?

I made terriyaki chicken and rice for the first time in a long time and surprisingly it came out pretty decent. Definitely not pretty but tasty enough. I wonder if making my own sauce would taste better though

Haaaa .... this reminds me of a overheard conversation from years ago at a bus station diner.

Customer: "Do you make your own soup?"

Waitress: "Yes"

Customer: "In that case I'll just have a grilled cheese sandwich."
