It's possible to concoct a number of dishes with just a basic sauce.
Onion garlic tomatoes black pepper and olive oil can then lead on to pasta sauces,risotto,Thai curry Indian curry,paella or Mexican just to name a few but the difference then is the herbs and spices that are added.
All of this can be done on one ring of a hob. You don't need a fancy kitchen!

Yes, you're right. Those are versatile ingredients. What is a "ring of a hob"? You mean one burner/fire?

@Harris4321 "One burner" or "One flame" is how it's usually said. "Burner" is probably more common. I've used mostly natural gas stoves in my lifetime, but "flame" doesn't include the electric variety.
