That’s not marketing, that’s inflation. Yes, Starbucks is globally recognized but their coffee isn’t that great.
Starbucks is to coffee what McDonalds is to burgers. Mass produced convenience that appeals to a large market but Starbucks and McDonalds are not the only two outlets that do burgers or coffee and who can charge a premium for both.

@justanothername Nor is there any attempt at producing a family-like sense of "Warm fuzzy's." No comforting fireplace, or a family gathered around for an evening of an old traditional boardgame. Starbucks just is a "In your face, place to order an over-rated cup of mediocre coffee, neither great, nor any attempt at "The best" the branding is a little aggressive but not nearly aggressive as it either could or should be. Under any other name, it's still just coffee and no one attempts to make it sound like something a little special. No one even tries to make it sound even a bit tempting..
Hell, they barely even try. And that's the difficult part. Even just a tiny effort could make a whole other kind of product.

@Grateful4you If you want decent coffee find a local boutique coffee shop.

@justanothername Didn't McDonald's recently try to pretend they are a steak house because the shat out yet another version of the quarter pounder?
