Used to work at Texas Instruments at Southwest Frwy 59 and W Airport Blvd in Stafford in the 80s. I hear they got In-N-Out Burger there now. I used to get their burgers when I lived in California in the early 2000s. Whataburger is better though.

@PatKirby Damn, wish we did! I am craving both!

Double, double Animal, no?

@PatKirby so where you live at the moment, I live in Sugar Land and been here long enough to see TI move from Stafford to SL
PatKirby · M
@Oster1

Yeah, the Double Double! Tastes great but they're small burgers almost the size of a Whataburger Jr. so you have to order two to equal one double-meat Whataburger. Besides Whataburger tastes better, yep! I hear the quarterback of Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes bought a few Whataburger franchises when he moved from Texas to Kansas. Their first day open the drive-through line went around the block. People even waited overnight at the door. That tells you somethin' huh?

Yes. My aunt still lives in south Pasadena near Sam Houston Tollway, and my uncle still lives out in Channelview. A friend on LinkedIn who worked at TI there until they closed said they moved to McKinney near Dallas. I live in a coastal town further south where the pace is much slower. Is it true crime has gone up a lot? Are they going to tear down the TI buildings? I wonder if they rent them out now.

@PatKirby so TI moved from stafford to Sugar Land, your friend is right about TI close to Dallas. It's actually closer to plano and Richardson, my son father in law worked with them for the longest time. They tore down TI campus ans lots of restaurants and small businesses moved from sugar land to stafford. As you know, Stafford doesn't have property taxes in addition to the lease price in sugar land is so high.

@PatKirby don't tell anyone, I am not a burger person 😊
Lions · 61-69, F
@PatKirby forgot to say, TI moved to University Blvd and 59 area
PatKirby · M
@Lions

Ok so TI moved from Stafford to both Sugar Land and University Blvd and 59 area as well? I worked afterwards for Fujitsu in Richardson while living in Plano, haha didn't even know they moved there.
Lions · 61-69, F
@PatKirby no. University blvd is a street in Sugar Land. Are you an electric engineer or computer sience?
PatKirby · M
@Lions

@PatKirby what a wonderful career.

Also worked on components to satellites, missiles, rockets, and fighter aircraft as failure analysis technician at an aerospace company in SoCal. But moved back to TX, too expensive and many weird people there. I look at jobs at SpaceX in Brownsville often and would love working for Elon Musk.

@PatKirby my young son is a EE with master's degree from Georgia Tech. He is very bright like you. He majored in radio frequency but refused to work for defense companies, he does not feel right about it.
PatKirby · M
@Lions
Exactly some of the work I did, RF testing and analysis for an aerospace defense company with customers like NASA, Northrop, Boeing, BAE, etc. Your son would be fascinated. But with an EE at that level he can basically pick and chose. Good for him.
Lions · 61-69, F
@PatKirby he is so bright but it comes with a price. He had a very active mind all the time.
