Only if they wear matching clothes

People become friends even without coffee.
So why not.
So why not.

@LifeIsShort So you're walking down the street. A chap, who hitherto has been a complete stranger, strikes your fancy. You approach him amiably and no doubt hesitantly and inquire, "Care to have a cup of coffee with me at the nearby Starbucks? Perhaps our verbal exchange over coffee will, in time, turn into a lifelong friendship." Won't he think you're a tad odd for making the entreaty? How will that ever work out well?
LifeIsShort · M
@flipper1966 It would be more than just a tadd odd if I did that.
flipper1966 · M
@LifeIsShort Because you wear a Russian army uniform?
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Sure why not.

@WintaTheAngle So you're already in a group with these folks.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@flipper1966 Yes. Not through choice. But working together through challenging times makes you bond with them. It’s that 19 minutes in the crew room with a cup of something warm and some banter that makes it manageable.
flipper1966 · M
@WintaTheAngle Yes, but you're already part of the same crew, there's a basis for the next step. What if you're not part of any crew? You just go up to a stranger and ask, "Will you have coffee with me?"

No -One of them just wanted the free coffee
bijouxbroussard · F
Yes, it can definitely happen. And longtime friendships can be maintained by occasionally taking time to get caught up over coffee or a meal. 😊
flipper1966 · M
@bijouxbroussard I tried it once. Didn't lead to anything but I enjoyed it anyway.

@flipper1966 I once stopped a stranger from turning into oncoming traffic when I worked downtown, where there are all kinds of confusing one-way streets. He posted a note on a phone pole on that corner that began "To the young woman in the red coat who saved me from accidentally KILLING myself on this blasted one-way street…” He provided his name, number and invited me to lunch. I took a chance, called him back, and it was the beginning of a 20 year friendship.

@bijouxbroussard That's terrific. Wonderful story!
