A few places here used to do that.. I dont think it happens much any more.. But having tasted the road tar they serve as coffee in those US diners, I would suggest they should pay you to drink it..😷

There are some places in Australia like that. Rare but they do exist. Some truck-stops for instance.

Depends on where. Fast food places no longer give free refills. Mostly because it's unfair to drive through customs.

@Gusman fast food places like McDonald's and such, there are nearly a hundred here, their main customer base is drive through and you have to wait in line no matter what. They can't do self serve, so it's a bit unfair to them. The wait is quite long actually. Up to 20 minutes during lunch. It's a single line of cars. Not like multiple cash registers on the inside.

Used to be like that. I got kicked out of Burger King for helping myself to a third cup.

It's very common in diners and other restaurants in the United States, but not in fast food restaurants.
