It's always weird to me as a South African that so few people use kettles.

@basilfawlty89 electric ones weren't really widespread in the states even 20 years ago. And Americans had no time for stovetop kettles, haha.

I got an electric one as a novelty item around a dozen years ago. First time I saw one in store. I've loved it ever since.

@ViciDraco I remember when my kettle broke, it was considered a family tragedy and my best friend's mum showed up with a brand new kettle, because "you have to have a complete kitchen".
