I’ve met many wonderful, interesting, and unusual people. The couple that crossed state lines so the husband could get better cancer treatment, an older widower who loved to dance, a skydiver that survived a failed parachute, veterans of pretty much every major war back to WW2, a guy that was recently released from 20 years in prison looking to get his life back on track, a woman that ran her own hobby farm, a woman traveling the world, a retired couple that ran their own dive bar for years. People in the twilight of their life, others starting their journey, dreamers, lost causes, the lonely, wanderers, the tellers of tall tales. Haunted woods, and missing persons. Stories of woe, sadness, gladness, despair, and hope.
These are the finest people I will ever meet. The salt of the earth kind of people. I’m honored to have met them, and for a short slice of time, share something real. It’s anything but sad.
