I have had all of them except for Weinhard's and McSorely's. And I have had Stroh's , Schlitz, Blatz, and Schaefer before they got bought out.

Meanwhile, one of my favorite lagers these days is Spaten, from Munich. It's been around since 1397! 馃槀
Yuengling is a local beer here and 1 of my favorites. if you like their beer you should try their ice cream
DrWatson70-79, M
@saragoodtimes I have only had it when I visited the Eastern US. I don't think the beer or the ice cream is available here.
@DrWatson it's the oldest brewery in the US. their Black & Tan is popular in stores and bars here

I had numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 back in the day.

Schlitz was available in London back in the early 1970s - I have a feeling it was in cans but I may be mistaken. Certainly Colt 45 (now owned by Pabst also) was in cans in the UK at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I've at least tasted Stroh's, Schlitz, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Milwaukee and Yuengling at one time or another. As I recall, I liked Yuengling and Stroh's okay.

Have a Blatz on me

By the way, I have had everyone as well, but Weinhard鈥檚 Private Reserve and McSorley鈥檚. Them I never found to try.
Slade56-60, M
@HumanEarth Blatz is the perfect cure for constipation
HumanEarth56-60, M
@Slade Pabst to if you drink too much of any beer

I have Blatz today, because its cheap. A case of 24 glass bottles is like about 12 bucks
BlondilyF
I have drank a few if those but quit drinking years ago.
BlondilyF
@TBone Ive never tried those maybe I'll go shopping for some today. 馃
TBoneM
@Blondily cool! Let me know ok? I haven鈥檛 tried them either. Although I did partake in those left handed cigarettes in my younger days! Lol. I鈥檇 try gummies if I had them. Don鈥檛 want to smoke anything though.

The Germans make the best beers
meggieF
@NativePortlander1970 you can still buy becks here.
@meggie Yes, but I can no longer drink, with my leaking heart valve and being on blood thinners to prevent future blood clots, one sip of alcohol gives me a nasty migraine from hell.
@meggie have you ever had any Belgian ales?

It might change your mind about Germany

Well, I don't like beer...although I have been known to drink ale in the past...I don't think I've had any of them, TBH.

May i ask, are these draught beers or bottled ?
DrWatson70-79, M
@Picklebobble2 They are all bottled, but you can get them on tap at local bars. I have no idea what form they were in when they first came onto the scene.
Picklebobble256-60, M
@DrWatson I'm in the UK. Beers tend to come either cask (barrels) or bottled.
Bottles can come from what we know as 'Micro Breweries'.
Small businesses where they produce very small amounts and are often sold locally only.

We have big name stuff too. Most of it from Germany or France or Belgium. But that stuff is often is often over carbonated so there's more fizz than taste (in my opinion)
DrWatson70-79, M
@Picklebobble2 Interesting. we have microbreweries too. But those are often the beers that are only available on tap at the brewery itself.

I think most American beers, even the ones on tap, tend to be more carbonated than the ones you are describing. Although the ones in brew pubs (the microbreweries where you can only buy the beer on premises) are often less carbonated.

I drank Strohs for a bit because I used to watch Michigan Outdoors with Fred Trost. They were sponsored by Pabst which advertised Strohs with the outdoors in mind. It used to say "Fire brewed for smoother taste" It made me drool every time so I bought it and liked it.
I've had Yuengling and PBR but I'm not really into lager
DrWatson70-79, M
@BlueGreenGrey None of these beers are among my favorites.
I loved being DownTown Portland when Weinhard's was brewing a batch back in the day, it was a sad moment when I learned the board of directors sold it, and the new owners sold the building to carpetbagging cali developers, who promptly tore the brewery down and had codos built on the site, It was one of the city's oldest buildings and actually in the National Registrybof Historic Buildings, which the developers didn't care about, "It's not earthquake safe." 馃が馃が馃が馃が馃が

One of mine favorite beers is Schlitz. It was one the first beer I stole out of the fridge when I was a teenager.

I was made with Schlitz brewery closed down, but happy when Pabst's brought the name. Then brought it back.

I grew up in Milwaukee and I always smelled the brewers yeast doing its thing.

It was common to smell that every time you drove on Interstate 94.

But when Pabst's shut down their brewery and had Miller Brewery brew all of Pabst's and Schlitz beers.

That smell was gone

DrWatson70-79, M
@HumanEarth My wife grew up with that smell. Whenever we drove to Milwaukee to visit her family, she knew exactly when to roll down the car windows to smell the yeast.

And we toured the Pabst facility once.

But as you say, it's gone now.
HumanEarth56-60, M
@DrWatson I got to tour the big 3 before closed or changed

Schlitz, Pabst and Miller

Lived there most of my life
