New Use For Shopping Carts, Portable BBQ Grills…

Shopping carts abandoned all over my city. Wouldn’t be surprised if this happens one day here.

Here the city picks them up and bills the store

@MarineBob They sure don’t do that here. Some of those carts are fished out of streams in public parks, it’s not usual to pull up to 4 carts during one volunteer-cleaning of a park. The city picks them up and calls the store to get them.

If Walmart wanted to do it they could put a device on them to track them and I think to stall the wheels if the cart gets beyond the perimeter of the parking lot. When I was working there the oldest cart collector (who was about my age) was going out once a week and collecting shopping carts using his own pickup truck. There were a few nearby neighborhoods that always had them in yards for him to pickup. He got to the point that he told me he wasn’t using his truck to do it any longer and the manager could provide him a vehicle to do it in if he wanted the carts back.

Have seen several photos of different people with multiple shopping carts chained up like a train hauling their loads of stuff as they move from one camp spot to another. This is getting damned ridiculous.

@cherokeepatti I think they do have those devices here, at least in some of their stores.

The builders near where I work all use stolen trollies to wheel their tools around in. It only costs £1 to get a trolley
