When I was a child living on the farm we’d have strawberries & vanilla cake at least once every summer….not exactly shortcake, which looks more like a biscuit than regular cake. It was good but we only got it during June when the strawberries were producing.

@cherokeepatti I don't know what the difference is but I watched a video on how a restaurant makes strawberry shortcake and that's where I got the description from.

I think it’s a slightly different kind of cake than usual white, but I always found it delicious

The best strawberry shortcake I ever had was made with a buttermilk corn bread that was more cake like than cornbread like. and yes, it was amazing enough that I remember it 35 yers later, never having been able to find it again. I've tried recreating it many times!
