I never go "super expensive" when I buy alcohol.
My "splurge" brand of Scotch is Oban "Little Bay." Oban's "regular" Scotch is a lot more expensive, but I have tasted it and it is excellent. (We're talking the difference between about $50 and $95)
I also like the "story" of that distillery. It is a very small operation (I think seven people run the entire place) located in the small remote village of Oban on the West coast of Scotland.
