Not that I drink whisky all the time lol but Famous Grouse is pretty good as an everyday whisky just over ice or even neat, and isn't so expensive least in the UK that it's wrong to use it in a cocktail either.
For single malts, either Laphroaig (quite peaty, slightly iodine-y Islay - if you can picture a lone piper playing on an island shoreline while in the background are people gathering up seaweed, it tastes like that image) or Royal Lochnagar (Highlands, not necessarily sweet but a very powerful 'fruitcake' flavour which I really love
