5 o’clock meaning ?

Should people have to wait till 5 o’clock to start drinking alcohol? Or is that just what time 9 to 5 work day ends. And how many really work 9 to 5. I don’t. 5 pm is kind late for me. But I still try to wait to drink till 5 to drink.
