A draft version of a W.H.O. document recommends that all countries forbid women between the ages of 18 and 50 from drinking alcohol because ... [I Rarely Drink Alcohol]

because they are of childbearing years!!!! Handmaid's Tale, anyone? Who's a Nazi? Who's in charge of Sharia Law?

The W.H.O. has already instructed socialized NHS in the U.K. to recommend that women who have given birth MUST breastfeed for at least 6 months, and apparently women who are unable physically to breastfeed, or who choose not to breastfeed, are now treated almost like criminals by NHS doctors.

Their recommendations are almost mindlessly enforced in many countries around the world, and I wonder if it is time to reign them in, after the debacle in China.

It's just a recommendation, not advisory of a ban...

Fetal alcohol syndrome is a huge issue world wide, and we know now that it occurs quite early in pregnancy - many women do not realize they are pregnant for a few weeks and will drink in that time, causing lifelong harm to their child.

In my opinion if you're trying to get pregnant, both man and woman should abstain from drinking. If you know you became pregnant during a period you drank, you should seek advice from your OBGYN.
@SW-User a woman’s doctor can tell that to a female who is considering becoming pregnant or is. The decision ultimately crests with her.
SW-User
@soar2newhighs there's nothing wrong with the WHO putting out health advisories based on studies from multiple countries though - further to that sure it's your decision to drink while pregnant, but honestly it's such a disgusting, irresponsible thing to do knowing current medical studies that I'd look down upon anyone who did now

@SW-User Yes, and drugs are also an enormous issue, if you have seen Meth babies and Crack babies, and I have. I have even taken care of them at a drug addiction recovery location, as a volunteer.

Women, unfortunately for the controlling male a-holes of the world, are actually in charge of their own lives, and their own bodies. That their bodies carry a new and separate person is the issue...but...

EDUCATION is the solution, and it is already being done in all countries where the WHO and the CDC are allowed entry.

So what is this crap from the WHO?

They are advising COUNTRIES to PREVENT women of child bearing years from drinking alcohol. I can't read the above articles for you.
SW-User
@4meAndyou fair enough, I don't agree that prevention is right and you're correct education is key - that being said, to me drinking or using drugs while pregnant is tantamount to child abuse and those women should expect visits from child services
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User And do what? Jail them? Forcibly commit them to a sanitorium for the duration of their pregnancy? If it is child abuse, then what is abortion?
SW-User
@4meAndyou no just potentially take their child from them if they're unable to provide proper care - abortion is legal termination of the pregnancy, non-barbaric nations have proper facilities and procedures set up for that - drinking your child to disability isn't acceptable
@SW-User A woman chooses to use alcohol and now weed, not illegal drugs, no agency has the right to infringe on her in any way. What if the woman was considering an abortion? You have any idea how that would be received?
SW-User
@soar2newhighs I have no issue with abortion, in civilized nations it's legal, safe and should be publicly funded - but I'm sorry if you drink or smoke your child into disability against medical advice in my eyes you're a monster
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User I DO have an issue with abortion. I also have an issue with crack babies, fetal alcohol syndrome, and the WHO.
SW-User
@4meAndyou what issue do you have with abortion? I can't think of a more compassionate thing to do in many cases
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User If you follow your own logic, and think about things you've written above, you stated that drinking and using drugs while you are pregnant is child abuse. You are talking about a fetus as a human being. A CHILD. And that is exactly what I believe. A fetus is CHILD.

So when a woman decides to have an abortion for her own convenience...not because she is the victim of rape, incest, or her life is at risk...in my view that is murder. Murder of your OWN child.
@SW-User I do not believe in abortion except in the instance of rape or invest. But I do not abortion should be publicly funded,
SW-User
@4meAndyou someone causing harm to a fetus they intend to carry to term and bring in to the world as a person, only to live a painful, disabled existence is monstrous - the compassionate option there is abortion, in my view - bringing someone in to the world is not always the best option
SW-User
@soar2newhighs to me there's plenty of people out there who have no business bringing children in to this world, particularly where they can't afford to support the most basic efforts, or if they're going to cripple their child in any way - abortion can often be compassionate
@SW-User I do not agree that abortion is compassionate
SW-User
@soar2newhighs that's fine, we don't have to agree - I just find it pointless and a little cruel to bring someone into this world if you know their life is going to be mostly painful and short
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User You are contradicting yourself in many ways. I believe I will drop out of this conversation at this point. It is no longer productive.

PS...thousands of families out there are dying to adopt a baby they can raise as their own...even a damaged or disabled child.

@4meAndyou okay

@DeWin that’s not true at all, new studies show relatively minor amounts of alcohol still can be quite harmful

@DeWin nope, actually my sister works with children who have FASD, plenty of moms, mostly European, were given now debunked advice by their doctors that one to two drinks were okay
