I have. Most things are still good a few days after the 'use by' date.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@BaileysMom: thanks

@GypsyKing: they do? Good to know. Thank you. I'm still kinda new to this meat eating lark.
Dreammmer · 56-60, M
@Sonnet: You can't often see or smell salmonella or bacteria. If the meat looks bad its way too late, but no cook in any restaurant or wherever would think about using meat beyond expiration date. Its not even allowed to be in the fridge. Guess why
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Dreammmer: I see
As long as they look and smell good, yes
I don't typically eat sausages even when the date hasn't past but if they still smell good and the color is fine then it should be fine. You usually can eat stuff a couple days after the use date still I think
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Stark: usually is freeze stuff so it wouldn't matter. Forgot about these ones though.
@Sonnet: I wasn't aware you could still eat things past the due date as long as it's frozen. Cool to know
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Stark: oh yes, they're in stasis. Lol!

Smell test yo. The date is only an estimate, and usually a pretty conservative one.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@KingofPizza: I'm already cooking them 🙂
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
@Sonnet: Well, enjoy them then!
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@KingofPizza: I dare say I will 🙂
Yes,
"use by " and "sell by" dates are subjective. Not federally mandated or enforced. But , rather, put on as a legal team for the companies see to place it on to cover themselves. But there is no industry standard. Mist tend to copy whomever the leader in that field is atm. So i would if they looked and smelled OK. Do the float test with eggs to see if they are OK.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Elandra77: I know the egg thing. I'm still new to meat though. But today I learnt that not only would they smell funny, they also discolour
@Sonnet: Mine goes in my freezer. Yes , bad sausage can smell off.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Elandra77: usually mine does too, I forget bout these ones though

Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Onecharmingman: wemust keep the beer chilled. Lol!
SW-User
@Sonnet: an extra day is probably ok if they look and smell ok and the fridge is cold. Cook them well though.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Onecharmingman: I shall. Thank you.
76starships · 46-50, M

@Sonnet: so, the illness was attributed to not eating meat?

Lower iron levels are an issue...etc
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Nonsequitur: to going vegan. Some people don't react well, I am one of those people.

Sure as long as they smelled alright.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
