What is your favorite type of food?

Okay, so I do love me some good Italian. And I mean Italian, not the Americanized Italian we get here. And Spanish Tapas!! Omg, I can sit there all day and nibble. Don't get me started on Turkish Kebabs! Yum.

Here are the global favs ... What are yours??

I was fortunate enough to sample the majority of those cuisines abroad and not in my home country.

There is quite a difference in taste when you are able to eat those local dishes directly in the country and preferably not in touristic areas where you cannot (or rarely) eat the real local cuisine.

I always have a smile on my face when I hear those tourists from the New World making a comment about the pizza they eat in a real pizzeria somewhere in Italy because they only get a thin crust pizza and not the Super Supreme from Pizza Hut with the cheese crust. What tops it is when they put 🧊 in the 🍷 of Chianti red wine ☺

Sorry for the edit. I forgot to list my favorite dish. It will be Greek food or Spanish food from the Mediterranean coast because you can still find the fresh catch of the day, although...

... In parts of Greece, you cannot find local fish anymore because it has been overfished and the fishermen have to go to the North African coast to get that fish.

@Stephie Yes, getting the local flavor for any of these is important. That's one of the best things I loved about traveling so much in my prior jobs.

I am completely with you on fresh caught local seafood in Spain. It was there that I first tasted octopus and it was amazing. Then, long after I had an opportunity to try it again, but this time in Boston. 🤦‍♀ It was so bad. Preparation and freshness are so important with some foods.
