What is one popular food trend you’ve never been able to get behind?

I’m just going to say it… Dubai chocolate. I see all the hype and I truly do not get it. It’s just whatever.

I never had it and won't buy it for that price. Same with angel chocolate but that one doesn't even look appealing.

I also never had pumpkin spice latte. Firstly, because I don't go to types of places where it's normally served, secondly, when there was the biggest hype around it I didn't drink coffee and lastly, it doesn't even sound good to me.

Mochi - it's okay but nowhere that amazing as Japanophiles try to make you believe. I'm also not paying 5 € for a box with 6 of them. I tried them, were okay but no delicacy I would buy regularly or even for some special occasion.

Lately, I'm starting to think Lindt is a bit overrated too. It's not bad but it's not worth the price they sell it for here. It's not a trend but it's quite popular, has good rap and is often presented as more luxurious.

Ghirardelli has the best Dubai flavor in my opinion. I tried several options and none of them were as good. My family tried it over xmas and loved it.

@deadmoon The pistachios in the brand I recommrned is light and they put in more crunchiness compared to other brands. Ive never tried the original Dubai brand and don't need to. Ghirardelli was the best that I found and not searching anymore.

@Blondily

In that case… think you’d like this? It’s a Dubai chocolate sundae from Ghirardelli. 😅

@deadmoon oh yes I luv sundaes!!!!😃😋

I mean it's nice, but it's also a bit too much for my taste. Like, yes I love it but it is not the chocolate that comes to mind when I think of chocolate.
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@Boeing Same, lol. I love chocolate, but… I don’t know. I guess I’m just not a huge pistachio fan. I tried it just to see what all the fuss is about, but it’s definitely not my favorite chocolate treat.

Actually Dubai chocolate is great if done right :/ At one point I got addicted. Lol

A few years ago there was this trend of baked pasta with feta cheese and tomatoes. That was overrated imo

@Nunki your lips are huge 😯

So is your nose, Martin 👃 @MartinTheFirst
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Nunki i got it from my father
Dunkin, Starbucks Coffee, Chick-fil-A (I've never had it tbh)
Chipotle. I tried it finally and I don't see the big deal.
Red Bull- again, never had one
White Claw if it counts. Ewws it tastes like how I imagine booze made out of bear piss would taste.😵
Probably other stuff I'm forgetting.
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@DancingStarGoddess We can agree on quite a couple of these actually. 😅
backnforth · M
Same it’s okay but I can’t do a lot of it
valentinesdaywife · 41-45, F
I really like Seafood!! Except Sushi! YUCK
@valentinesdaywife The only seafood I eat is Tuna & Shrimp.
Teslin · M
@RockinPop54 Sushi doesn't have to be raw. I agree with you about raw seafood after a bad experience though. When I have sushi, it is always cooked.
GoFish ·
i've never had it.. but do you like pistachios?
deadmoon · 31-35, F
@GoFish Yes, I did gather that in order to love Dubai chocolate you have to really, really like pistachio. I tried pistachio for the first time in Dubai chocolate and that is essentially how I learned I’m not a big fan of pistachio, because it tasted more meh to me than wow.

@deadmoon no give real pistachios a try, not in the chocolate, not in ice cream or other sweet. Just try them plain as a snack, they're wonderful :)

I don’t drink coffee might be the biggest faux pas
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Ferric67 Coffee is overrated. I don't get what people see in it.
Boeing · 36-40
@Ferric67 @CrazyMusicLover please teach me masters 🫣

Starbucks coffee
McDonalds!! Tried it ... NEVER AGAIN!!!! YUCK!!!!
Mexican food... Either covered in spices and heat designed to cover its on the turn or looks like someone else already ate it..😷
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
I've heard the entire industry was born to cover up a more disgusting and prevalent meaning to the phrase "Dubai chocolate". 🤢😆
