I don’t know anyone personally. There are local individuals and groups who on various sites are posting what they will do to help out…hand out meals to anyone who is hungry, stock the free-standing pantries that are all over this city, donating to local food banks, volunteering with other activities.
I do have a big concern about what will happen in local grocery stores. Will there be mass looting at some point causing the stores to close up or limit the amount of people who can enter at any one time? The smaller stores may be in trouble if this starts, less money for security and they will get hurt worse if it happens.

@cherokeepatti I will hope and pray that there is NOT mass looting. That would be truly awful.
The best thing the people who can afford to donate can do is to donate food to local food pantries or to the food banks.

@4meAndyou well something else. Will they be desperate enough to break into homes when people are gone away from them for work or appointments or whatever? Probably need to step up the neighborhood watches and walk around or whatever. I know one older neighbor that lives around the corner helps to do that anyway. One summer it was so hot and me and the boy was wanting to go for a walk and waited till after 10 p.m. to do it. We saw that neighbor sitting in his driveway on the tailgate of his truck and he told us why he would do it. We do have the right in Oklahoma to defend our property and lives with deadly force if necessary.

@cherokeepatti I know that there are a lot of homeless where you live. I doubt any of them receive food stamps, because they have no address. However...there are probably OTHER less than honest people in your area who might become desperate.

@4meAndyou Pretty sure of that. Some people even when they have money will piss it away rather than put back some grocery staples in the pantry. I have seen this all of my life with some that I knew. Had a sister-in-law (married to my ex’s brother) was one that way. She would spend the money till it ran out and if they didn’t have groceries or didn’t want to cook would make the rounds to the relatives homes to mooch meals. My MIL caught her one afternoon sneaking in the back room where the freeze was trying to fill up a bag with beef roasts and other meats instead of asking, of course she was pissed about that.

@4meAndyou She was so lazy too. Came over one Sunday evening as I was starting to cook dinner. I was making mashed potatoes to go with. The meat and other things I was cooking and peeled more because they came over. She made the remark that some fried potatoes would be good, wanting French fries like I had a restaurant. Told her that I was out of oil to fry them in. Poor baby, had to eat mashed potatoes. And then remarked that she didn’t cook on weekends at all and how weekends were her time off from cooking. I worked full-time and cooked every day, just about every meal unless we occasionally were visiting someone.😖

@4meAndyou that summed up my attitude about her too.

@4meAndyou there was a back door on that room where she could have walked out and put the meat in the car and hid it till they left. I bet it wasn’t the first time either. Everyone was in the living room watching tv and she thought it was a good time to get up acting like she had to use the restroom and do it.

@4meAndyou yeah she had a lot of nicknames and I imagine that was one of them. The good thing was that my mother-in-law, who could sit around and criticize any of her sons and daughter’s in laws for the most minor thing finally compared her to me one day and figured out that I was all right, I cooked, baked homemade bread, had a garden, canned foods for the winter, did crafting and sewing to save money, etc. She started comparing her to me after a few years and think she figured that I was all right (and her son was a bold-faced liar too).
