Do you feel overwhelmed when a family member asks you what you want for dinner when you're on the way home?

So my mum was on the way home. She was running late.

She tells me she's a the train station waiting for the bus.

Which will arrive in 8 mins.

Immediately I ask her if there is something that she wants to eat.

She says nothing in particular I'm starving as I haven't had any lunch.

I ask her immediately if she wants Chinese. No response.

So I keep messaging saying if not Chinese, burgers? Chicken or pasta?

Still ignores me.
So I call.
I call 4 times and she doesn't pick up until she's outside.
In a huff. I didn't hear my phone ringing!

I just tell her I'm ordering burgers what toppings does she want. She then snaps when I get in I'll tell you.

So I wait, she then starts with the just order for yourself.
So I tell her I've got the cheeseburger here I just need to know the toppings.
She comes in all flustered and tells me what she wants.

Oh tell me how much it is and I will send you the money.

So I tell her I didn't ask for money, I asked what you wanted.

Now she's sitting here in a mood.

I'm trying to make her life easier... What is the hardship?

Everything is always such a drama with her.

No, but more often than not my gmaw will say "let's order pizza" or "let's go to [restaurant/cafe] for dinner" without asking if I even want to. She also often says "we're having [meal] today. Hope that's ok"

Basically, she always assumes I wanna have dinner with her one way or another. I never actually want to bc of her poor hygiene, but I feel so guilty whenever I decline.

@LordBarbossa well I guess it's nice she thinks of you. Sorry her food hygiene isn't great. 😐 That's awkward. I'd have to make sure I have fresh lemon to suck on after or something.

@Mellowgirl her general hygiene is awful. She doesn't even wash her hands after no2 in the bathroom.

Closest she gets to washing her hands is when a home nurse showers her on wednesday and gmaw gets her hands wet so she dries them on a towel.

That is, assuming gmaw actually lets the nurse shower her.

@LordBarbossa do you ever try to encourage her to wash her hands? I'm assuming she's a quite a bit older than you so she has probably forgotten

@Mellowgirl all the time

@LordBarbossa it's a chore but it's part of the older age package unfortunately. My grandfather is suffering with dementia. He forgets things immediately it's hard work

@Mellowgirl she's been this way all her life, not just in her olda ge
