Who says you can’t go home?

Awesome. NO KETCHUP!!!! I'll pass on the sport peppers. Folks in various parts of the country can taste this treat at the growing number of Portillo's across the country.
And by the way....the bun should be just a little damp from steam. 😋

Sometimes the toppings overwhelm the dog...and this seems to be a case in point. But as far as nostalgia for your Chicago goes, it was a mighty effort!

Hi. Very nice I use Ball Park Sara Lee buns Aldi chili no beans and I'm done. Stuck in Ohio too. Where my vote means nothing

@alongalone I get the sports peppers, relish, and hotdogs shipped from Chicago. Meijer actually sells poppyseed buns here, which I wasn’t expecting. I like a good chili dog, too. I make my own meat chili when I’m ready for those.

This former Chicagoan can confirm those look super authentic.
Make an Italian beef next lol.

@luckranger71 I’ve got Buona Beef in my freezer and always keep Marconi’s giardiniera on hand. I’m just waiting for it to not be so hot. I’m planning to make them some Saturday or Sunday later this year when I’ve got a house full of people here for football.

Used to eat them all the time in Milwaukee off the food trucks on the job sites

Every few months my dad does this too
Reminds me of The Bear!

@BloviatingBuffoon That place specialized in beef sandwiches which is another food religion in Chicago. I’ve got the supplies and make those, too. For beef sandwiches, Buona Beef ships well. I’ll probably make a post about those when I make them again. It’s a heavier sandwich, so it needs to not be so hot outside.
