I like to smell whiskey with my eyes closed and imagine where I am. It's always a combination of being in a log cabin and a fire somewhere nearby. Sometimes I can mentally see a leather, couch or a box of cigars. Or Vanilla Ice cream or a jar of cherries. The really good ones are a mixture.

I don't think I have ever turned down food based on what it looks like .

But eating with eyes closed is an interesting idea.

On the other hand, I can imagine myself inadvertently pushing the dish off the table!

Some foods need to be eaten hot or cold, and time is not a good thing to mess with. Who wants to eat cold spaghetti for instance? If you get fries from Mcdonalds, they turn into cardboard when they get cold, pretty horrid, so you have to rush to eat them. :)
Some foods work well for slow eating, like fruits,and powerbars, and anything that doesn't need to be warmed up or frozen.
You wouldn't want to eat your icecream so slowly it drips on your pants.
