As a substitute cooking-wine perhaps? Though they are sugar solutions, by definition.
Instead of beer in garden slug-traps?
I don't know about the Pepsi but I gather Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid (does the company own a dentistry chain?) so might be useful for removing lime-scale from wash-basins, or "pickling" metal prior to soldering it!
