@Pretzel I only recently learned about the ettiquete that you need to wait for a waiter to seat you. 😂 This has never been a thing where I live. You come, find a table, sit down and wait for any waiter to bring the menu. But maybe times changed and now it's a thing even here.

@CrazyMusicLover Here restaurants that do that have personnel at the entrance and/or a sign expressly telling you to wait there. Otherwise the default etiquette is to sit at will.
Considering that we're arguably the top or second to top country to be pedantic about this sort of formalities, I'm guessing it could be the "etiquette" at most only in France? 🥴
