they're made in a house. if you expand house to mean a place with a roof and people go inside it. and doors and walls.

Stale cubed toast with artificial seasoning is easy to make.

Not necessarily a good thing anyway. They could mean made by Uncle Slappy who’s squatting in the basement.

I used to make them myself at the bbq steakhouse I cooked at in the late 90's, they're quite simple. Just cube our day old rolls, let them dry out, toss them in some olive oil and herbs, lay them out evenly on a sheet pan, put them in a low degree oven to dry out again, voila, croutons.
