I never wanted to wait that long for dinner, so I would pierce the potato with a fork or a knife several times, then wrap it in a very wet paper towel, and microwave it, turning the potato with a pair of tongs every 2 minutes till done. For a large potato, it can take 8 to 10 minutes on high heat.
