Fry up some sausage, keep the grease.
Brown flour with grease.
Slowly add milk and cream (optional) while mixing into the browned flour.
Add some butter, salt and pepper to taste. Add the sausage to the gravy.
Simmer for a little while.

My description is a bit vague, but you get the idea. There are numerous videos that can give you a visual. Be sure to brown the flour, don't just mix it together and expect good results, your gravy will separate a little if you don't brown the flour.

If any of you would like to try southern US biscuits, just leave the eggs out of the scone recipe. That's literally the only difference :)
