What do you DISlike about restaurants in your home town? ..

.. or anywhere! .. Apart from issues around tipping, the big restaurant annoyance for me is the amount of hard interior surfacing that boosts the noise level. Sometimes I poke my head in the door and decide 'No thanks'; Or I'll leave without ordering, after sitting for a couple of uncomfortable minutes. My favorites are the few where MW and I can still enjoy a quiet meal together.

kids getting paid $15 a hour and still fucking up your meal, then using the excuse that they don't get paid enough to be competent at their jobs...

@wildbill83 None of that here unless maybe in the fast food type places. It's a small town. Your 'wait person' is liable to be your neighbor's cousin, or the daughter of your estate agent, bank manager etc; so it's wise to be nice to each other.

Do you live in a sizable city?

@ffony nope, population of entire county is about 30,000

@ffony probably why none of them stay open more than a few years, and/or have pissed off the locals to the point that they rely completely on tourists during the summer months...

@wildbill83 Have you considered opening a restaurant yourself, that would be different from the ones you describe? If you did, or you even just vaguely thought about it, what practical steps would you start with, to make sure it fulfils your vision?

@ffony I'm a contractor/engineer, why would I open a restaurant?

Imagine If I treated my work/customers the way gen z burger flippers treat theirs?

I'd get sued and/or be in prison...
