Do you tip when you get your carryout food from a restaurant?

🤔 Whenever I dine in, I tip but I am on the fence about tipping when you get your carryout food.

Why would you be on the fence about it?

If food is carried to your table during a dine-in experience and you tip for it, why would you not tip if your food was carried from the kitchen to the take-away window where you carry it away with you?

@swirlie both are crazy concepts

The times a server earns their fare is mostly drink refills and the bringing of unlimited items like bread usually
@th3r0n
Okay, fair enough but in terms of a percentage, how much do you typically tip when you do tip?
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@swirlie probably around 10% average, would tip more if I had more and do tip better when I have a little more
@th3r0n
10% average? That means, sometimes you tip less than 10%. It's always better to leave NO tip than to tip less than 10%.

@swirlie I could be guessing wrong

I usually leave $2 and my meals are usually $9-$20

For better service or if I have a little more money it's usually 3 or more
@th3r0n
Well, $2 is certainly respectable for what you're talking about here, so I don't think $2 is something to complain about either.
