The food industry is truly disgusting...

So much cheating is going on with production and labeling. "Smoked" sausages that are dumped into a bath of smoke aroma instead of being smoked, "wasabi" that's just horseradish with mustard and food coloring, "old" cheese that's only ripened for a month and got the rest of its taste from a bottle, "fruit yoghurt" that only contains 0.2% fruit but the label can say "with real fruit", etc. The list is endless.

Not sure if it’s the same category but all the plastic we are eating, which will end up killing us
@Moneyonmymind that's not really put into the food on purpose, but packaging is ridiculous and problematic too.

@NerdyPotato whoever is doing it, it saves them money so I beg to differ, since people don’t want to spend more money on glass and what not
@Moneyonmymind yeah, another thing ruined by capitalism...

@Moneyonmymind yep, and it's not unusual for things to be in 2 or 3 layers of plastic either.

@Moneyonmymind hey, I'm trying to enjoy my margarita through my plastic straw. I hate paper straws, they get soggy and useless.

@Moneyonmymind the multiple layers of plastic wrapping on food at the grocery store is really frustrating though

@come2gether they want us to get cancer faster so the pharmaceutical companies can profit I think I read that somewhere
@Moneyonmymind nah, I don't believe that. It's just that plastic is cheap.

@NerdyPotato it is but also when we consume it our chances of getting cancer skyrockets
@Moneyonmymind absolutely, but pharmaceutical companies making more profit doesn't help food suppliers, so I don't see why that would be their goal. I think the benefit for them is just that it's cheaper than other packaging.

@NerdyPotato I forgot which company profits I haven’t read about it for a while I get angry everytime I do
@Moneyonmymind lots of companies profit from illness, but not the ones causing pollution. They just value profit above anything else, and if public health is endangered, that's an acceptable side effect for them. It's not their goal though.
