Those times when you eat something out of the fridge that you don't remember how long it has been there

And all you say is: I hope this doesn't kill me, but I'm hungry.

I did that with homemade yogurt. The lid came loose and it dehydrated quite a bit. It had gotten shoved back behind other things on the top shelf of the refrigerator. No mold that I could see so I stuck a spoon in it and tasted it. Tasted like a cross between sour cream and cream cheese. I ate it all and started making larger batches and allowing it to strain in a colander lined with a coffee filter for about 24 hours. Used it for toast spread with honey.
@cherokeepatti Sour cream lasts forever too, until it turns into a fuzzy green science experiment.

@NativePortlander1970 Yogurt gets better as it ages a bit, it develops more tryptophan is what I’ve been told.
my motto is if in doubt, throw it out

@beermeplease well, it has to pass the sniff test first of course.
@beermeplease To bad many people don't do that and end up getting sick

@OlderSometimesWiser Oh come on, it happens!
@come2gether Lol….. not to me. Number one on my OCD playlist is expiration dates.

This is YOU? Mr. food snob? 😂😂😂 I am shocked, I tell you. Shocked!!! 😂😂😂
I go through the fridge specifically to toss those that have become "science experiments". 😅

@bijouxbroussard There is always that of course. There are times, for me anyhow, where I'm....huh, I think that's been in there less than a week, should still be okay. Pass the sniff test and take a tentative nibble. Both okay? Well, time to stop the gnawing hunger
