How far would you drive to go out for food?

First off, I have to drive a minimum of 25 minutes to get to any restaurants at all. In the 25 minute range is okay food. If I drive 45 minutes, I can get decent food. If I drive an hour, I can get great food. Of course, the problem is, I still have to make the return trip. So for tonight, that rules out the hour long trip.

I have to decide between okay food, and decent food. Lousy choices.

There's a nice steak house about 45 miles south of here but they are always busy and the wait is usually long. There's decent steak houses about 60 miles north with shorter wait times. Anything over an hour's drive isn't worth it.

If it was just for myself, 10 mins. If i was meeting a friend, then sometimes you have to drive a distance. I do live in walking distance to some nice restaurants
come2gether · 41-45, M
@meggie Within walking distance would be a really nice perk

@come2gether for sure, but other than the work canteen, we prefer to cook our own food most of the time.

@meggie work canteen. You're not in the US, lol. Which is most likely great, there's plenty of times lately I don't want to be in the US. When cooking for one, it's lonely, and much more difficult. I have to cook fancier meals so I'm interested in my own leftovers. If I cook blandly, I won't want to eat it a second time. One of my quirks I guess

I think that's why I live in the suburbs instead of more remote. I went to University in a small town where anything good was at least 45 mins and I hated being so far.

@Starcrossed hear hear

Across the road in the summer and to far in the winter . I like this little restaurant when they are open.
I’d drive 3 minutes and 28 seconds, anything above that is just crazy

You could always cook for yourself.

That was going to be my suggestion!🤗
come2gether · 41-45, M
@Maturebate I could, and I'm a decent cook. I'm currently out of food though, haha. I need to put together a meal plan and go buy groceries

@come2gether that was i had in the past. The decoupled thing im still unsure what the fuck happened. I had a brain tumor.

I live remotely near the wild. I'm a hour drive to big city for groceries and restaurants
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Cellphones don't work here is the best thing
come2gether · 41-45, M
@HumanEarth my cellphone works fortunately. I've been in cities of different sizes my whole life. While the quiet can be nice out where I am now, and the stars shine super bright; I find it a pain in the butt to have to go so far for amenities that cities offer
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
I lived in big cities when the Internet and cellphones were just starting to become a thing.

I hated it. To be honest we wouldn't have internet if my daughter didn't move back home.

I don't believe in wasting money for stuff you don't need to live.

Like I won't I won't waste money on computer controlled car. My newest vehicle is 1984. I reuse and rebuild everything

I’ve driven 4 hours to Vegas just for food 😂 Ended up staying the night, definitely worth it.
Spontaneous trips with my girls are the best 💯
Vin53 · M
I can walk to great food in under 5 minutes.
come2gether · 41-45, M
@Vin53 That's just rubbing it in, not helping at all, lol
Vin53 · M
@come2gether One example 😋

@Vin53 If you're in Providence RI, that is a great town for dining out!
have helicoptered to a nice restaurant about an hour away
Musicman · 61-69, M
The furthest I have ever gone is 5 1/2 hours one way.
I don’t have a car, but I live in a city with good restaurants within walking distance. I also have friends and siblings who do drive, and occasionally we go out. But I’m also a decent cook; more often they come and eat here.

@bijouxbroussard And I'm sure the fun and talk is wonderful!
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
oh about 10 minutes max

otherwise I'm cooking 😀
come2gether · 41-45, M
@lumberjackslam Then in my situation, that means no food, hahaha, not an option
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@come2gether you asked about me but then you want to discard my answer if you don't like it 😅
