Have you ever eaten a battered deep fried Mars Bar?
It's something I can't bring myself to try. But people must eat them, otherwise the chip shop would stop selling them. I have had a battered pineapple ring and it was yummy.

@smiler2012 I've seen them in the North of England too. One man ordered one with a free serve of scraps (the batter pieces that break off while food is being fried)
