I had a "wink-eye." Take a piece of bread, tear a hole in the middle of it, put it in a frying pan with butter or oil, crack an egg into the hole and fry it. I read about this on Facebook a couple days ago. Frank Sinatra used to make them for his kids. My mother used to make them.

@AndysLoft Thank you, Professor. My favorite living author, Daniel Woodrell, talks about them in his novel Death of Sweet Mister. In your neck of the woods a "toad in the hole" is similar. Wikipedia says some people in the U S and A call a winkie a toad in the hole. Daniel Woodrell is a Southern fella from MarineBob's neighborhood.
