I thought you meant the one by Frank Zappa.

The song has sinister roots. Depending on the rendition, from childhood songs to Frank Zappa. It's still a cool tune..

I want to know what the authors of Hey diddle diddle were ingesting at the time they wrote that !
Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such craft
As the dish ran away with the spoon
Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such craft
As the dish ran away with the spoon

I used to love that song when I was a kid. I didn’t know it was for that

@Bluebirdsonmyshoulder A lot of the old fairy tales are dark in nature, used to teach children lessons. I bought my daughter some Little Golden Books to read to her, some of them fairy tales. I got about halfway through Hansel& Gretel and had to stop. I threw that book away.

I had no idea but reading the lyrics you posted, I can totally see it

@Musicman Raisin bran muffins were my favorite.
Nursery rhymes were never created to entertain children but to warn of dangers.
